I challenged myself to add touches of Fall inside and out-
without spending any money!
I decided I would use the stuff I have!
Now that is Sweetwater Style!
The mums are blooming in the garden.
Autumn is 4 days old....guess I have to give in and say goodbye to summer!
I dug out the fall stuff but I REFUSE to start Halloween yet!
I started with the front entryway!
I am not totally satisfied with the result....but I love the price!
I really like the look of these Haeger vases turned upside down for candle holders. If you remember, the big blue pots had geraniums in them all summer....
I swapped them out for some mums in pots that were growing in the garden.
They looked bare so I harvested the white/silver artemesia and stuck that around the edges with some artificial leaves and cattails.
The pumpkins on the bakers rack are actually jack-o-lanterns with the cut outs facing the back....when Halloween comes...I will just put the light back in...turn them around and plug them in.
Now to the inside....
First the mantle......
The colors in our house already have an autumnal feel....lots of golds, rust and brown.
So I lied just a little....because I splurged ($10) and bought some fairly expensive artificial oak leaves....worth it....they almost look real!
The 3 copper planters in the windowsill are filled with my favorite mum blooms, some orange marigolds and grasses.
It almost makes doing the dishes fun! Yeah....or not!
There was this ugly white plastic pumpkin in the fall box....really fakey looking....almost threw it out!
Of course I forgot to take a "Before" picture....will I never remember that I am a blogger?
I painted it to take some of the plastic shine off and added some shading.
Yeah...I know it is still pretty ugly but just wait!
I dug through the boxes of leaves, flowers and ribbon.....got out my trusty tools....
Started clipping and arranging and gluing.....
Some grape leaves.......
A few snippets of artificial hydrangea.....
Some grapes.....
Some seed pods.....
Then one of my "famous" pinched and wired bows with a little raffia for interest!
Tuck the bow in.....glue it....and there you have it!
That is all the fall I am doing for now....I am going to enjoy the last of the summer flowers until the frost hits!
These last warm days are just too precious!
Get out there and enjoy them!

Nice..I especially love the idea of turning around the jack-o-lanterns to use for decorative pumpkins..why don't I ever think of those things!
ReplyDeleteAnd your "ugly" turned out really pretty - good job!
Very nice! I love fall and everything about it, especially the colors. Thanks for the follow btw!

I love it! I used very inexpensive items and lots of thrifted items for crafting too! I just made a fall wreath from decorations I got from the thrift store. Here is the link of you want to take a peek.
